Favorite Literary Characters

Okay, I was looking at a post from the past week or so and saw where Ruby wanted to know who everyone's' favorite non-Anne LMM character is. I shall make a poll about that soon, but it got me to thinking about something else entirely:

If you had to pick one male and one female character out of all the literature that you've ever read, which ones would be your favorites and why?

I was very evil when I asked this question. I am having a very hard time choosing between so many charcters myself. I shall have to think.....

It's really one of the best books that I have ever read. You won't be disappointed.

First of all, I reserve the right to change my mind at any time. However right tonight I would have to pick Elizabeth Bennet and Atticus Finch.

I pick Elizabeth Bennet because she is witty, smart, and capable of having Darcy fall in love with her despite her family and connections.

I pick Atticus Finch because he is a (1) good father to Gem and Scout. (2)He does what is right despite what society expects of him. How many of us would continue to do what we know is right even if we are ridiculed and our families are put in danger?

    My favorite Literature Characters:
Female: Charlotte Pitt from Anne Perry's Thomas and Charlotte Pitt series. She's a woman who wants to know and be part of the world when in the Victorian era she couldn't be what she wanted until she married a man below her station. She had to sneak newspapers just to keep up. The best part she loves history just as much as I do.

Male: Alex Cross from James Patterson books. He's smart, funny, and just puts his whole heart into any case he's working on. A fighter for truth.
