Story soundtrack?

Do you guys have songs you listen to again and again while you are writing, songs that are forever part of that story, that inform how you write? I am working on the first chapters of Blythe by Nature now, and there is one band I keep going back to while writing it.

This isn't the first time I've "used" this band for inspiration--when I was writing my GWTW fic, I listened to this song on repeat as I wrote Scarlett and Rhett's reunion scene.

What about you guys? What songs are associated with your stories, if any?

YES!!!! I like to listen to either movie soundtracks or period music. I listened to several songs from Jim Brickman's Grace cd while writing Comfort and Joy. I listened to Jesu while writing Katie and Johnny's wedding and How Great Thou Art while writing Katie's death.

While writing the only bit I've ever written of my WWII bit, I was inspired by Mrs Darcy from the 2005 Pride and Prejudice soundtrack.

If we ever finish building that dog house, I plan to immerse myself in music and get to writing again.

This is stunningly beautiful music ... it's like a combination of Norah Jones and Dido, in the best possible way.

I listened to a lot of Hayley Westenra and other Celtic-type music while writing Meg's stories. I also did a lot of classical for SotS. For Season of Song, I've been listening to Michael Buble, Norah Jones, Diana Krall. Anything kind of soft but still has a sense of period is good.

Oh, and also I listen to a lot of children's music, because sometimes the only chance I get to write is when I also put music on for the girls!

You guys, I am going to write all this down! Elouise, I listened to some Hayley Westenra and I really am captivated by her voice. I know already she's going to be a new favorite for me, and I definitely know why you picked her for Meg's story. She almost sounds like I imagine Meg to have sounded when she sang for Hawk, and at the Glen concert during the war.

Isn't it funny that none of us listen to the Anne soundtrack while writing ANNE fanfiction? :P

I do occasionally listen to the Anne soundtrack when writing. Usually it's when it comes up in the shuffle of all my soundtracks.

I'm glad one of us does! I'm going to have to put it in rotation. :)
