I'm planning out my plot for Blythe by Nature, and I had the thought that at some point, I wanted to provide some backstory for Cecilia Meredith. Do we know what she died of? I always had some vague idea it was in childbirth, but now that I'm reading Rainbow Valley again, I've realized that she was quite recently dead when the Merediths moved to the Glen.
Do we ever find out for sure, or is this something I can take some creative license with?

I think it was something that you can take creative license with. She was ill long enough for the children to say their goodbyes, I think. I remember it being said that she asked Mr. Meredith to take especial care of Una. That's about it.
Like Adrienne said, I remember reading about them saying goodbye, and that was it. I'm pretty sure you can take creative license with it. I think it'd be fun to learn a bit more about her!
Thanks, guys! Good to know that I won't have to worry about running afoul of canon. I'll still never get over the time I got the Story Girl's eye color wrong...
Una was 6 when her mother died. She is 10 at the beginning of Rainbow Valley.
A search through the etext didn't reveal anything about Cecilia's cause of death.
