Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me? I think that Maud's favorite letter to start a last name is "S'. There is Anne Shirley, Emily Byrd Starr, Jane Victoria Stuart, Sara Stanley, and Valancy Stirling. Then there is Marigold Lesley, Pat Gardiner, and Kilmeny Gordon. (of course there are also the Darks and the Penhallows) But there is a great deal of "S" heroines and I wonder why.

  1. I don't know, but as a former Scott, I like the trend. :)

  2. Wait... I guess that I'm still a Scott...

Humm I guess that means you have the same intials as our favorite heroine, AS

I haven't got an "s" last name in my family connections that I can think of. I suppose I'll just have to marry an "s". It'll be great when guys ask me out and if I say no I can tell them its because their last name doesn't start with an "S"!!

  4. i never noticed, but that is nifty!

on the subject of which there's a proliferation of "M" names in LMM's own life - MacNeil, Montgomery, Macdonald - but then again, she does live in a scottish society.
